Ferrochrome is an alloy of chromium and iron. It is an important alloying additive in steelmaking. High-carbon ferrochrome is produced from chromite and silicon as a slag flux. It is a solid solution of chromium, iron, and carbon, a complex compound of these three elements. It is one of the most common ferrochrome alloys, characterized by high strength, corrosion resistance, wear resistance, high-temperature resistance, and oxidation resistance.
About High-carbon Ferrochrome
High-carbon ferrochrome is used as an alloying agent in high-carbon ball steel, tool steel, and high-speed steel to improve hardenability, wear resistance, and hardness. It is also used as an additive in cast iron to improve wear resistance and hardness, while also imparting good heat resistance. It is used as a chromium-containing raw material in the slag-free production of silicon-chromium alloys and medium-, low-, and low-carbon ferrochrome. It is also used as a chromium-containing raw material in the electrolytic production of metallic chromium. It is also used as a raw material in the oxygen-blown process to smelt stainless steel.
Specifications and Particle Sizes: Natural lump, 10-100mm, powder, or custom-made to meet customer requirements. Packaging: One metric ton in a large bag, or according to customer requirements
