Ferrochrome is an alloy of chromium and iron. It is an important alloying additive in steelmaking. High-carbon ferrochrome is produced from chromite and silicon as a slag flux. It is a solid solution of chromium, iron, and carbon, a complex compound of these three elements. It is one of the most common ferroalloys, characterized by high strength, corrosion resistance, wear resistance, high temperature resistance, and oxidation resistance.
About Low-Carbon Ferrochrome
Low-carbon ferrochrome is an alloy of low carbon and chromium, typically with a high chromium content and a low carbon content. This alloy is widely used in the steel industry, primarily as an alloying element in steelmaking to improve its hardness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance.
Specifications and Particle Size: Natural lump, 10-100mm, powder, or custom-made.
Packaging: One metric ton in a large bag, or custom-made.
Uses of Low-Carbon Ferrochrome
Low-carbon ferrochrome is an alloy of iron and silicon. It is an iron-silicon alloy smelted in an electric furnace using coke, steel scrap, and quartz (or silica). Because silicon and oxygen easily combine to form silicon dioxide, low-carbon ferrochrome is often used as a deoxidizer in steelmaking. Furthermore, since SiO2 is generated with a large amount of heat, it also helps increase the temperature of the molten steel while deoxidizing it. Low-carbon ferrochrome can also be used as an alloying element additive and is widely used in low-alloy structural steel, spring steel, bearing steel, heat-resistant steel, and electrical silicon steel. Low-carbon ferrochrome is often used as a reducing agent in ferroalloy production and the chemical industry.
